Support For Concerning Behaviour

I provide therapeutic support for adults who recognise ongoing patterns in their sexual behaviour, or relationships that may have caused harm, crossed boundaries, or raised serious concern—and who genuinely want to understand and change these patterns.

I work with low to moderate risk presentations, including consent and boundary violations, controlling behaviours, harmful sexual behaviours, sexual compulsivity, and behaviours not aligned with your values, or may have crossed legal or ethical lines.

This is a therapeutic service. I do not conduct forensic risk assessments or provide risk assessments to courts or other parties, and this is not a court-mandated treatment program. I do form my own clinical judgement of risk as part of our work together, but this is for therapeutic purposes only.

My approach is trauma-informed, non-judgemental, and firmly grounded in community safety, respect for people who have been harmed, and the prevention of further harm.

Your Privacy, Confidentiality and Safety

I want you to be able to speak honestly with me, so here is exactly how confidentiality works. Feeling safe enough to be open is essential in counselling, and I am strongly committed to keeping what you share with me private, with only a few carefully limited exceptions. The threshold for breaching confidentiality is deliberately high. It does not usually apply to disclosures about past behaviours, or concerns that are historical, non-specific, or unlikely to recur. Counselling is a space where you can speak openly about patterns you may feel ashamed of, frightened by, or unsure how to change. My role is to help you make sense of these experiences, take ownership of them where appropriate, and build a different way forward together.

In exceptional situations, where I have good grounds to believe serious harm may occur to you or to a specific, identifiable person, I may need to take protective action. This could include sharing information without your consent if I judge it necessary to help prevent harm. This is not an automatic or routine response; it is a careful and rare decision, usually made after consulting a clinical supervisor or another appropriate professional. Any information shared would be limited to the minimum necessary to help keep people safe.

If I become aware that a child is currently at risk of harm or abuse, I will take steps to support their safety. This may include notifying the relevant authorities, in line with my duty of care and professional responsibilities. Wherever possible, I will speak with you about my concerns and the available options before acting.

Your client records may be subject to a subpoena or court order. I will protect your confidentiality as far as the law allows and notify you where practicable. Further details are in my Professional Services Agreement which you will receive when you begin as a new client.

Outside of these limited circumstances, what you share with me stays between us.
